Secondly, you may want to buy stamps online for commercial purposes or collect as a philatelist. One can do it very well on the website as it has a huge collection of postage and philately stamps also.
Thirdly, it’s a boon to corporate customers as they are offered with specialized services with multiple advantages like monthly billing, volume discounts, bulk track, and the trace of their speed post mail.
For example, one such customer using these services is the Passport of India. To explain, it delivers all the passports through registered mail by opening a premium account with the post office.
Indian Post Office Domestic Mail
Firstly, the domestic mail is that the most used one among the Indian postal services. Meanwhile, domestic mail is broadly categorized into nine different mail services.
Ten different mail services are as follows:
1. Post Card:
Postcards are 2 types. Firstly, one is a single postcard (SPC) wherein you write the communication and drop in a letterbox. The second one is a reply postcard(RPC) that serves the same purpose of a single postcard but in addition, it has an additional card attached to a single card wherein it allows the addressee to write a reply to your card immediately and post again a reply to you. That is, you get a reply from the addressee and you pay for it in advance.
2.Inland Letter Card(ILC):
It is a half sheet of A4 paper designed as ILC with flaps which can be folded and pasted once you write content on it. Your content can`t be seen by anyone, unlike a postcard.
It is an envelope and you insert your document or communication page/A4 paper in it and also affix it with glue.
It is a card or so that is enclosed in an envelope but not affixed with glue allowing for inspection of contents. Example: a wedding card.
As is known to us a parcel is a package with height, breadth, and width containing any gift or material to the addressee that is not prohibited under law.
ILC, Envelope, parcel, book packet can be registered by presenting at the window of the post office and a receipt will also be granted at the counter. For registration, you need to pay additionally. Registration will provide for delivery of the article to the addressee, duly signed also. So, one can get acknowledgment in a registered article if paid for the same.
6(a) Registration is compulsory in the following cases:
(1)Any parcel exceeding 4 kilograms in weight;
(2) Insured article;
(3) Any parcel addressed to a place for which a customs declaration is required;
(4) article containing the following stamps labels, cheque, Hundi, banknote, bank post bill, bill-of-exchange;
(5) Any article bearing the word “registered” on the cover’;(6) registered article which is re-posted after having been delivered;
(7)Any value-payable article.
In case you need to send any valuable items like gold or bullion or any important documents worthy, you can use this service by paying for insurance fees extra. In case of loss of the article, insurance is covered for the amount noted on the cover of it and insurance paid for.
The insurance covers all risks in the course of transmission by post. Insurance is also compulsory for at least the amount specified for recovery from the addressee in the case of all value payable articles on which the amount specified for recovery exceeds ₹ 100.
8. Value Payable Post:
It is called VPP service. You can obtain a book from a seller using this service and you pay the amount at the time of delivery of the article instead of paying at the time of booking. Here, an article along with money Oder form will be sent. Once the amount is collected from the addressee, the money order is booked to the sender and will be paid at the destination.
It is a newspaper that is registered with RNI( Registrar of the Newspapers for India) a Govt body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the registration of the publications, such as newspapers and magazines, India. They are posted periodically.
10.Blind Literature Packet:
First of all, India Post allows free transmission of blind literature packets upto 7 kilograms sent by or to a blind person. Papers of any kind, periodicals, and books impressed in “Braille” or other special types for the use of blind are allowed to be transmitted by post as Blind literature packets.
Size and packing are the same as for book packets. No written or printed communication should be enclosed except the title and table of contents; the key or instructions; a label for return of the packet.

Speed Post Network
There are around 315 National Level Speed Post Centers in the Indian Speed Post Network. Each of these centers has hundreds of PIN (Postal Index Number) codes for the respective cities, through which speed post articles are delivered efficiently and on time.
At the State Level, there are close to 986 Speed Post Centers that are tagged to the main National Speed Post Centre, which tracks the sorting and dispatching services of the state center. It is through these parent National Speed Post Centers that speed post articles and consignments to the State centers are routed through.
The PIN codes that are assigned to these speed post centers make delivery of the consignments quick and accurate.
You can find the complete list of the delivery post office or PIN codes that are available in the Indian Speed Post Network, on the directory. This is how the details are arranged in the directory.
The Postal Codes are arranged as per their circle and in alphabetical order.
National Level Speed Post Centers & State Level Speed Post centers:
All the 315 National Level Speed Post Centers are arranged alphabetically in the first column.
All the 986 State Level Speed Post Centers that are attached to the National level centers are arranged alphabetically in the second column, according to the circle in which they fall.
The Delivery Post offices that are tagged to the National speed post centers directly or through the state level centers are arranged in the third column.
The list of PIN codes of the respective delivery post offices is arranged properly in the fourth column.
So if the third column has the details of the delivery post office and the fourth column has the corresponding PIN code for the same, the details of the state speed post center where it is tagged to will appear in the second column and the details of the parent national speed post center will appear in the first column.
If the delivery post office is directly tagged to the national level speed post center, then the second column which has the state-level center details remains blank.
